The sessions almost always fill up so please call early to reserve your spot. Prepayment is always required when registering because instructors buy materials head of class time. Call 602-279-9510 to register, debit and credit cards are welcome.

Cancellation policy: No refunds or store credits will be issued. If you have to cancel up to 48 hours before a workshop you are eligible for a store credit for the class price minus the costs of your workshop materials.

Fabulous Flowers

Thursday, July 19 at 10 a.m. OR Saturday July, 21 at 10 a.m. You’ve all admired and many of you have purchased the gorgeous can flower wall pieces and stakes made by local artist Cynthia Patterson that we’ve had at Southwest Gardener this past year. Well, lucky for us Cynthia has agreed to teach you how to make a smaller but high impact version of her wonderful creations. Your flowers will measure about 10 inches across and stand on a stake about 30 inches tall when finished. Cynthia is an upbeat, creative artist who will teach you to cut the cans, form the flowers and offer tips on painting your blossoms with bold, bright patterns. You will make two fabulous flowers to take home and “plant” in your garden.  Cost: $35 and you’ll need to bring a few empty, clean cans with you to class.

Glass Mosaic Pendant

Saturday, July 28, 10 a.m.  You can create beautiful jewelry from glass mosaic tiles and Dave Jarvinen will be here to guide you. In this workshop you’ll design and assemble a gorgeous pendant from glass tile and a simple metal pendant frame. Participants will need to bring a pair of tweezers, but all other materials are included in this is a three-hour workshop. It’s a great opportunity to create your own bling. Cost $45.

Fused Glass Mirror

Tuesday, August 7 at 10:30 a.m. Glass artist Betsy Hagerty has come up with a wonderful project that is as practical as it is pretty. Using bits of glass you’ll design a fused-glass frame for a simple mirror. Your glass frame will be mounted on a larger wood surround that adds stability and dimension to the project. Betsy’s sample is symmetrical but she encourages you to come up with your own design, so you can be as wild and free form as you like. Your finished fused-glass frame will be a 10 by 10-inch square that surrounds a 4-inch square mirror, suitable for hanging. Betsy will take the glass frame home to be kiln-fired and will return it to Southwest Gardener for pick up. All materials for this workshop are provided. Cost: $65.
