ardening - Sunday, March 14, 12 p.m. Growing your own herbs is an easy and economical way to make home cooked meals spectacular. Farmer Gregory Ware will be back to share his tips for creating the perfect herb garden. You’ll learn all about growing and maintaining herbs and will select three of Gregory’s locally grown plants to help you get your herb garden started. In no time you’ll be stepping out your back door to snip fresh herbs for your next meal. Please plan on a two-hour class. Cost $40.

The Gardener's Kitchen creator Jordan Stejskal will be here sample two favorites - Stuffed Green Chilies and Veggie Lasagne Rolls. Come by on your way home or as you run errands and taste these great meals. Jordan will have her full menu available if you want to put a couple in your freezer. Composting Basics - Saturday, March 27, 10 a.m. We all know how important it is to amend our desert soil on a regular basis. Making your own compost is easy, environmentally friendly and free! Master Gardener Pam Perry will provide you with all of the information you need for successful composting. Find out how to recycle your kitchen and yard waste into gardening gold! Please plan on a two-hour class. Cost $20.
Mosaic Tower - Sunday, March 28 at 9 a.m. Artist Dave Jarvinen will teach you every skill needed to complete this mosaic sculpture. The tower stands 3 feet tall by 9 inches wide. You’ll mosaic the front and sides, and the back will be covered in copper sheeting. The tower stands in a custom made iron base included with your class. This will take about seven hours to complete. Cost $145.

Mosaic Cross - Saturday, April 3, 10 a.m. Come make a striking mosaic cross for your patio, block wall or inside your home. Mosaic artist Dave Jarvinen will teach you to design, cut and assemble tile in a handsome wrought iron frame. Each cross measures approximately 18” by 15” and will be completed to take home during this daylong class. Cost $95.
Spring Veggie Plant Sale - April 10 a.m. to noon. Yeah! Gregory Ware from Dos Arbolitos nursery will be here selling his tasty vegetable and herb starts in the Southwest Gardener courtyard. These plants are grown organically in the Phoenix area so they are well acclimated to our desert climate. Pick up seedlings for your garden - don't miss out.
Warm Weather Gardening - Sunday, April 11, 12 p.m. Gardening in our warm desert climate doesn’t need to be a challenge. Local grower Gregory Ware will help you plan your garden for the coming summer months. He’ll share his considerable knowledge of appropriate veggies and herbs for the season, soil prep, watering guidelines and tips for maximizing the season. After class, you will select 3 of Gregory’s vegetable or herb plants to take home. Cost: $35.

ent - Make 1,000 Cranes
To Benefit Phoenix Children's Hospital - April 17, All Day. Our goal: Fold 1,000 cranes in a day and raise money for PCH. The Origami Crane is a symbol of luck and many believe that if you make 1,000 cranes your wish will come true. This event honors Sadako Sasaki, a victim of leukemia after the WWII bombing of Hiroshima, and benefits Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Origami Master Brian Harrison will teach you to create Origami Cranes. Then, we invite you to fold as many as you can. Lessons will be scheduled in half-hour blocks. Let’s fold 1,000 cranes in one day! All the cranes will be strung together and displayed at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, and the proceeds from your lesson will go to the PCH Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders. ss art at Phoenix College and during a visit to the store we admired her beautiful etched pendant, so she’s graciously offered to teach a class on making it! This is an exciting opportunity to learn how to etch dichroic glass using a process of stamping with a special ink. Choose from nature designs that include butterflies, dragonflies and leaves. Gail will take your pendant for kiln firing and return it with a ribbon necklace. The workshop lasts two to three hours. Cost $39.
Birds, Bees and Butterfly Gardening – Saturday, April 24 and 10:30 a.m. Many of us dream of creating a garden habitat that welcomes these wonderful creatures but we don’t know where to begin. Take advantage of gardening author and teacher Mary Irish’s expertise as she guides you in creating your own nature oasis. Class topics include plant selection and garden design as well as butterfly, bee and bird basics including lifecycles and migration habits. With Mary’s help, you can’t fail. Cost: $25.
Gardening by the Moon - Saturday, May 1, 10:30 a.m. Farmers have used the cycles of the moon to manage their crops forever. It influences planting times, watering cycles and when to prune for growth. Local grower Gregory Ware is a big proponent of following moon cycles to maximize the output from his farm, and he’ll share his knowledge about gardening by the moon so that you can have one of your most successful gardens yet. She’ll take them back to her studio for firing and return them for pick-up in about two weeks. Your finished plate will sparkle with color. Plan on about two hours of fun. Cost $65.

Everything you ever wanted to know about Cactus & Succulents – Saturday, May 15 and 10:30 a.m. The Sonoran Desert is home to many unique cactus and succulents, and a common myth is that they require no care. But, even the prickliest cactus needs some TLC. Horticulturist and noted author Mary Irish has spent her career studying these plants and she will share her considerable knowledge. Come for no-fail information on everything from transplant guidelines to growing in containers to watering. Cost: $25.

Each pin is hand sewn using a simple running stitch. You will learn to make two different petal styles and will complete one pin. Everything is provided. This session takes three to four hours.
